What will it cost me? — Fee calculator
Many clients wonder before the first conversation: "What costs am I facing?" This calculator gives you a non-binding estimate of the lawyer's and court fees — calculated under the German Lawyers' Remuneration Act (RVG) and the Court Fees Act (GKG). The calculation runs entirely in your browser; no data is transmitted.

Good to know
- Framework fees: The out-of-court business fee (Geschäftsgebühr, No. 2300 VV RVG) is a framework fee (0.5–2.5). The calculator uses the standard rate of 1.3(threshold fee); for extensive or difficult matters it can be higher.
- Credit/offset: If I acted out of court beforehand and it nevertheless comes to a lawsuit, half of the business fee (at most 0.75) is credited against the procedural fee (Vorbem. 3 Abs. 4 VV RVG).
- Employment law (unfair dismissal): The value in dispute is calculated as three times the gross monthly salary (§ 42 Abs. 2 GKG); a reference letter claimed alongside it increases this by a further month's salary. A severance payment does not increase the value in dispute.
- Legal expenses insurance: If suitable cover exists, it often covers the costs. I submit the coverage enquiry for you.
This fee calculator cannot cover every case. For a more detailed calculation, please use the Prozesskostenrechner (litigation cost calculator) of the Deutscher Anwaltverein(opens in a new tab; this page stays open in the background).
Non-binding estimate, not legal advice for an individual case. The actual costs depend on the specific case (among other things, the concrete fee rate, expenses, multiple clients, the setting of the value in dispute, the outcome of the proceedings). RVG and GKG in their respective applicable version are decisive. Basis: Anlage 2 zu § 13 RVG, VV 2300/3100/3104/1003/7002/7008; GKG KV 1210/1211 bzw. 8210/8211; § 42 Abs. 2 GKG; § 12a ArbGG.
