Fees & Costs
We clarify costs openly before you instruct me — no surprises. So you know where you stand from the very start.
Billing under the statutory fee scale
I bill according to the statutory fees of the German Lawyers’ Remuneration Act (Rechtsanwaltsvergütungsgesetz, RVG) — that is, only what the law provides for. These fees are generally based on the value of the matter or dispute and rise in graduated steps with it (Schedule 2 to the RVG), so they are predictable in advance. I will work out the concrete amount for you transparently at our first meeting. I only agree an hourly feeif you expressly wish it.

Initial consultation
For consumers, the fee for an initial consultation is capped by law:no more than €190 plus VAT (§ 34 RVG), unless a different arrangement is agreed.
Legal expenses insurance
If you have legal expenses insurance, I submit the coverage enquiry for you and clarify in advance whether your matter is covered. Purely precautionary advice — such as reviewing a property purchase contract — is usually not covered; I will tell you this honestly.
Advice assistance and legal aid
If your income is low, advice assistance (Beratungshilfe, out-of-court) and legal aid (Prozesskostenhilfe, for court proceedings, §§ 114 ff. ZPO) may be available. If the requirements are met, I will support you in applying for it.
